Forum & Store News

Coming to the forum this week – Countdown 2 Christmas
Our team will be sharing ideas for Christmas with you all starting on 1st December. Join us daily for scrapping ideas, cards, presents, food decorations and more!

On a sadder note – the store will be closing at the end of December. I have decided to focus more on selling locally as we currently don’t have a scrappy store in my town. Most products will be marked down and there will be some new Kaiser products added in the next day or two. So grab yourself some goodies before Christmas. I’d like to thank all our customers who have bought from us.

On a brighter note – the forum & gallery won’t be going anywhere – well we’ll be moving web address on 1st January 2010 but we’ll be announcing that closer towards the end of the year.

November Celebrity Scrapper

(I’m a bit late getting this one up but sooo much has been going on IRL).

Please welcome of November Celebrity Scrapper – Wendy Smith.

Care to share a little about yourself? I am the mother of 2 gorgeous boys Charlie 4yr and Angus 3yrs. I am married to a friend I have known since I was 2 years old….awwww

What attracted you to scrapbooking? I wanted to make a single album of Charlies first year…hmm what can I say 42 albums later and I am addicted TOTALLY

What is your process for creating layouts? I usually start with the photos, then look at what it is I am needing to do the layout for. Sometimes I have to start with the papers as they get sent to me in DT kits, then I need to get the photos to match. Once they papers are sorted, I embellish and title it up, and then journal

Describe how you choose your supplies? I usually buy online, and I love looking in the clearance sections. I am not too bothered with newly release stuff, but I do love anything bright and boyish

How often do you scrapbook? And do you have a favourite time of day to scrap? I scrap almost everyday. If I am not scrapping, I am at least thinking about it, browsing blogs and forums, and creating sketches

Do you journal on your layouts? Do you use your own handwriting? I journal on every layout, even if it is just the date. But I try to capture the feelings and memories on every layout, after all it is the reason I started scrapping.

Describe your scrapping space. My scrapping area is a desk in the corner of the lounge room, with bookcase, mini cubes and shelves. I wish I had my own room…ahhh to dream!

Scrap alone or with others? I love to scrap with others, but because of the shifts that both my husband and I work, I can only get to do this once a week

Which piece of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started scrapping? Don’t be pressured to buy things from one company. Have a good look around what is available on the net and pick and choose what you want.

Any advice you’d like to give other scrappers? Good quality doesn’t need to be expensive. Buy yourself a quality 12in trimmer with readily available replacement blades. Nothing worse than a blunt trimmer!

Do you like to alter different items? I am not a fan of Off The Page, and unless it is a useful item like a notebook or pen holder I am not really interested

Do you have a favourite technique? Distressing…love to distress everything. I use my Heidi Swapp distressor on most pages, and definitely use ink on everything!

Do you have something you put on every layout? Clusters. I love to cluster my embellishments

You have $500. What do you spend it one? SLICE…nothing more to say!

Do you have a blog? www.my-head-space.blogspot.com

Favourite blogs to check out? Far to many to mention. All my favourites are on my sidebar of my blog.

If you had three wishes what would they be? A live in Maid/Cleaner/Nanny/chef, a new wardrobe with plenty of shoe allowance, and a never ending packet of Timtams….LOL

Favourite topic to scrap. My children of course. I really hate doing layouts about me..they only happen very rarely

Who inspires you? My scrapping buddies are my main source of inspiration. They are Susan Longman (my sister), Melissa Heather, Emma Allen, Kayla Renee MacAulay, and Kellie Lusted

If you had to pick your favourite 4 layouts, which 4 would you pick & why? Care to share them with us?

daddy's arms.jpg

“Daddy’s Arms” I love the vintage feel to this layout. I very rarely use vintage stuff as I prefer bright colours that reflect my children’s personalities. But I just LOVE this photo and these papers

beach combing.jpg

“Beach Combing” Love the colours in this layout and how they are taken from the pictures

so silly.jpg

“So Silly” using a kit I got from ‘What Is Old Is New’…love my sons faces and the bright colours in this

it's party time.jpg

“it’s Party Time” Love the bright colours again, and the kids having fun, and those cute cute hot air balloons from Sass Lass papers!

Thanks for that Wendy!!

Celebrity Scrapper will be taking a break for December but will be back in 2010. If there is someone you’d like to see featured here, let us know – we’re always on the lookout for Australian scrappers to showcase!

Welcome our new Design Team ladies

Well our DT competition has ended and my goodness it was a hard decision to pick the winners – so hard we have put three ladies on.

So please join with me in welcoming Sandra, Karen & Chris to the team. They officially start on 1 January but will be working behind the scenes over the next couple of months helping us plan some great & exciting things for the new year.

Don’t forget our Girls Month In Silent Auction – it’s your chance to snag a bargain!
