The latest

Slowly working on the last of the Log Your Memory Sweet Talking challenges. I haven’t done much scrapping for the last couple of days because a little someone has been rather restless so therefore not much me time ;) (unless you count doing mountains of washing me time lol)

If you pop on over to my Project 365 blog you can catch up with my February layouts though.

I still haven’t managed any paper scrapping but I hope to start doing some soon. I went and spent my Christmas GC and won two awesome prizes recently so I have plenty of new stash to inspire me (& I’ve decided to enter a DT call for a new blog).

This one came from Colorbok for doing a survey for then. I *heart* the letters. I’m thinking of using them for something to put in Kara’s room.

IMG_0081 This one is from the Craft Lovers website. I won this awesome Urban Lily pack for entering their TEN prizes in TEN days Competition.

DSC02233Looking forward to playing with those goodies

I finally got around to spending the gift voucher I got for Christmas. I ended up buying a heap of bits and pieces so I can get started on Kara’s album.

DSC02235 Big surprise there’s lots of Kaiser in there ;) and three bottles of Kindy Glitz. Surprisingly, hubby picked out a fair few of the bits. He has such good taste in scrappy supplies LOL. I need to take him scrap shopping with me more often as he suggests things I usually wouldn’t look at or don’t see cause I’m too busy drooling over Kaiser or BG ROFL.

In other news, Roll 2 Create is taking a break. After much discussion I decided I need some me time & family time for the next 6 months so I can enjoy Kara growing up (& OMG is she growing fast) and do some scrapping for me.

So anyways, that’s my news for the moment. Will be back soon, hopefully with some more to share :D

February 2010 roundup

(The first of a few posts for today)

Well it’s that time of month again – time for my monthly round up.

(The idea & questions for my round up come from Katie the Scrapbook Lady.)

  • What books and/or magazines did I read this month? What to Expect During the First Year, Scrapbooking Memories, Mother & Baby
  • What movies, television shows, plays, etc. did I watch this month?
    Movies  – Inglorious Basterds (sp?)
TV – Dr Who, Spartacus – Blood & Sand, Caprica
  • What fun things did I do with my family and/or friends? Celebrated the first birthday of my cousin’s son
  • What gifts did I give and/or receive? Received – Lots of gorgeous flowers and bits and pieces for Kara
  • What special or unusual purchases did I make? Bought some clothes for Kara. Hubby & I bought an iPhone each.
  • What illnesses or health concerns did I have? None
  • What were my accomplishments this month? Giving birth to my gorgeous daughter, Kara Rose and only using the happy gas as pain relief.
  • What were my disappointments this month? None
  • How did I do on my goals for the month? (Or any current short or long term goals) The nursery was complete just days before I went to hospital. I took a HEAP of photos. I have managed to journal everyday (even if it is is just in a notepad doc & then transferred to my diary at the end of the week.
  • Anything else noteworthy to include? Being a mother is awesome. I’m  amazed at the huge number of iPhone apps out there. Kara is the most precious thing ever :)

Tasks to do

  1. Back up all digital pictures. Format memory cards. Sort all February photos into 2010 folder. Make a backup copy of the photos onto my desktop computer and EHD. DONE
  2. Backup any other documents or files as needed. (doing this today as I need to rebuild my main computer when we get our full version of Windows 7 – still running the RC)
  3. Backup my blogs.
  4. Clean off my work area, empty my inbox, and clean up my computer files.

Goals for March

  • Journal every day.
  • Take more photos
  • Start scrapping Kara’s album
  • Do more scrapbooking

Organising Part 2 & 3

(I was going to post this yesterday but life got in the way lol)

So today is all about having a plan. We’ve been given some questions to think about.

1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be?
2. What do I need in or near the room to serve that purpose?
3. What can I remove from the room?
4. What problems do I see with the room?
5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?
6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems?
7. What kind of a budget do I have to create the organized room of my dreams?
8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room? (28 days!)
9. What is my plan of action?
10. Who can I ask to help me with this?  (working with a friend can be fun, productive and encouraging)

so I thought I’d blog my answers

1. What do I want the purpose of my room or area to be? Somewhere relaxing. A retreat to get away to each night. Somewhere to spend time alone with hubby.
2. What do I need in or near the room to serve that purpose? Our bed with some nice comfy pillows. Storage for our clothes. Better way of storing my CDs & stereo.
3. What can I remove from the room? The TVs (yes we have 2 in there atm). Anything that is not required in the bedroom. Possibly the dressing table. All the nursery stuff that is currently being stored in our room.
4. What problems do I see with the room? At the moment – too much stuff. Things not being put away. Clutter on every surface. Hubby not putting his stuff away. To many items for the size of the room. It needs to be repainted. Not a biggie but it would be nice.
5. What organizational tools might solve those problems?
My storage wish list for our bedroom

PDI24Diamond Drawer Organisers for socks in bedside tables.

2069_EIC1680A coat rack for storing our scarves & coats. Not a necessity but would b nice ;)

1837_PTM1290_01_533An earring organiser cause atm my earrings are everywhere

1847_PTM5938_01_533 and my necklaces are the same

I’d love some under bed storage to store our sheets and off season clothing (so winter clothing in summer and summer clothing in winter)

I think I’d like some of these to better organise our wardrobe. I would really love to set up one of inbuilt wardrobe/shelving things instead of our current wardrobe & chest of drawers.

6. What habits need to change to solve the organizational problems? Clothes need to be put away after they are washed & dried not just left. Things that don’t belong in the bedroom don’t need to be brought into the bedroom. Things put away where they belong after use.
7. What kind of a budget do I have to create the organized room of my dreams? A very small one – everything has gone on doing up our new office & bub’s room.
8. What kind of a timeline is necessary to organize the room? (28 days!) By the end of February. I may not have all my storage solutions in place but as long as the room is more organised, neater and more relaxing I’ll be happy.
9. What is my plan of action? Ummmm.

  • Start by sorting through our clothes and either packing away non seasonal clothes (& stuff that won’t fit til after bub is born), donating clothes that haven’t been worn in ages or chucking stuff that is full of holes.
  • Moving the TVs out to the garage.
  • Moving the stuff for the nursery into the nursery.

10. Who can I ask to help me with this?  (working with a friend can be fun, productive and encouraging) Hubby, Mum

I’ve been told I’m a little mad doing this while due any day now with bub no 1 but I’m in serious nesting mode atm ROFL and our bedroom is driving me MAD. Looking forward to having somewhere clean & relaxing to retreat to each night.

So the next step is about removing & sorting. Hmm sounds like the basics of my plan lol. Will be taking things fairly easy tomorrow so will do some clothes sorting. Will ask hubby to move the heavier stuff into the nursery (if that’s where it’s going). TVs will have to wait until the weekend when one of our friends comes round to help lift it.
